Free And Easy Language Enrichment For Your Child

Speech Language Pathologists will tell you that sharing books and stories with your child is an excellent way to positively impact language development.

Your Public Library is a fantastic resource for your family. Did you know that many area library systems have wonderful Children’s Departments as well as regularly scheduled Story Times?

Books are a great way to enrich language development for all ages, from infants through school age. Early childhood is a perfect time to explore colorful, beautifully illustrated books with age-appropriate vocabulary and engaging story structures. This is a perfect way to learn about the concepts of characters, cause and effect, and sequencing of events; all important skills that help us understand how to relate to others in the world and also foundational for many other cognitive activities!

Story time is also a good opportunity to practice sitting in a group, taking turns and attending, so what a great social activity to share with your children!

Families living in Murphy, Parker, Lovejoy, Lucas and Allen will find story time opportunities in both the Plano and Allen Library Systems. Wylie, Sachse, Murphy, Richardson and Garland, can find story time in the Garland, Plano, or Richardson Library Systems. McKinney and Frisco also hosts story times for surrounding areas, such as Prosper, Celina, Princeton, Melissa, McKinney and Frisco.

These are great family activities that you pay for with your taxes, so take advantage of your wonderful community resources!
