That is why Speech & Occupational Therapy of North Texas is enthusiastic about Murphy Parks & Recreation.  Murphy, Texas is just next door to our East Plano Clinic so we have many clients from this community.  So we have taken the opportunity to volunteer with Murphy  Parks & Recreation on a few occasions.  We enjoyed assisting with the summer Moonlight Movie Nights for families as well as with Murphy Maize Days,  a fantastic annual fall event with fun for the entire family!  As one sponsor for the  Murphy Maize Days Children’s Tent, we had a great time applying free tattos to hundreds of children and meeting many great families!  It was also good to be under the tent when we had a few surprise showers…in the middle of our Texas drought!

Now that we are into winter,  Murphy families can still utilize the great community activities Murphy Parks & Recreation offers for children.  To name just a few, Parks & Rec offers: Preschool Socials, Lil Einstein’s Preschool, dance and gymnastics, art, drama and Lego robotics! So there are plenty of things to do inside – out of the cold!  Murphy may be a small community, but there are many great opportunities for children to exercise and grow, all close to home.  Murphy may cover a small area, but approximately 30% of the population is under the age of 14 years.  So this is a  family friendly city that is planning activities for the present and the future.
